Biskey Howe is a small viewpoint overlooking Bowness which is easy to get to and offers great views over the village and Lake. It was originally a much larger outcrop of rock and was used as a quarry for many years. Many of the older houses in Bowness are built of stone hewn from the rocky crag that once occupied the space where Biskey Howe viewpoint now stands.

Sherriffs Wood is a small area of Woodland situated midway between Bowness and Windermere. A stream, Mill Beck, runs through Sherriffs Wood, and a small but pretty waterfall can be found at the lower end of the woodland.

This pleasant stroll links the woodland and viewpoint and offers a glimpse of the Bowness that many tourists never see.
